Juristische Fakultät Chairs and academic teaching staff

23 chairs of Ruperto Carola University of Heidelberg are assigned to its Faculty of Law. 11 of these chairs pursue research and academic teaching in civil law and other areas of private law, 4 are dedicated to criminal law and criminology and 7 to public law. Beside professors, a wide range of well trained academics and professionals practicing law contribute to the diversity, breadth and balance of teaching. 

This permits an integration of diverse aspects into teaching. The combination of good scientific and academic foundation with how law is practiced, an orientation at foundations of law and core fields of law  as well as diverse possibilities of specialization characterize what is important to the Faculty of Law. The teaching staff enables students to develop both understanding legal problems systematically and preparing well for examinations in particularly designed classes, which are offered from the first semester until students feel ready for the final exam.
